Kwara State Launches Committee to Reclaim School Lands

On Friday, Kwara State inaugurated a committee tasked with reclaiming encroached lands belonging to public secondary schools across three senatorial districts. The initiative, announced by Peter Amogbonjay, the press secretary of the Ministry of Education, aims to address growing concerns regarding the encroachment of school properties.

Dr. Lawal Olohungbeb, representing the permanent secretary, stated that the committee, which includes members from various educational and governmental bodies, will focus on identifying and mapping affected school lands, conducting physical site inspections, and providing accurate documentation for recovery efforts. The committee is expected to prioritize institutions that have received formal complaints from parent-teacher associations.

The governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has emphasized the importance of education and approved the committee's establishment, which is expected to complete its primary assignment and submit a final report within six weeks.
