Kwara State Forms Committee to Recover School Lands

The Kwara State government has inaugurated a committee tasked with recovering encroached lands belonging to public secondary schools across three senatorial districts. This initiative, announced by Peter Amogbonjay, the press secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, aims to reinforce efforts to protect educational infrastructure statewide.

The committee, represented by Dr. Lawal Olohungbeb, will address concerns regarding the encroachment of school properties by private individuals and organizations. It will prioritize complaints submitted by community parent-teacher associations and will conduct physical site inspections to assess the extent of encroachments.

The committee is expected to verify titles and cross-reference physical boundaries with original survey plans held by the Kwara State Geographic Information Service Commission. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been commended for prioritizing education through this decisive step.

The committee is expected to submit its final report within six weeks.
