Hamzat Appoints Obanikoro as Campaign DG for 2027

Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the current governor of Lagos State, has appointed Musiliu Obanikoro as the Director General of his campaign for the 2027 governorship election.

This announcement was made during a campaign council meeting held in Lagos. The appointment follows an endorsement from Bola Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, who expressed confidence in Obanikoro's ability to coordinate the campaign effectively.

Obanikoro is a seasoned politician with a career spanning several decades, having previously contested for the Lagos governorship on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). His extensive experience includes serving as the Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture during Tinubu's tenure as governor, representing the Lagos Central Senatorial District in the Senate after winning the election in 2003, and holding positions in Nigeria's High Commission in Ghana and as Minister of State for Defence in 2013.
