Lagos State Sets ₦7m Deposit for 2024 Hajj Pilgrims

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board has officially begun the sale of application forms for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage, with the cost set at ₦20,000 for Hajj forms and ₦10,000 for Umrah forms. Pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of ₦7 million via bank draft to a commercial bank in favor of the board.

Abdul Hakeem Ajomagberin, the board's secretary, emphasized that the deposit is crucial for the coordination of visa processes, accommodation, and airlift arrangements with Saudi authorities. The deadline for the initial deposit payment is September 2026.

Additionally, a compulsory health insurance scheme has been introduced, requiring pilgrims to pay ₦15,000 individually or ₦55,000 for families, ensuring access to proper healthcare during the pilgrimage. The board aims to enhance the overall pilgrimage experience by providing comfortable accommodations and spiritual guidance, with the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Kadiri Hamzat.
