Lagos State Unveils 3,700 Hectares of Informal Spaces

The Lagos State Government, represented by Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, announced the discovery of 3,700 hectares of informal spaces across 1,700 locations.

This initiative is part of the state's strategic plan for urban development, with a completion target set for December 2025. During a ministerial briefing commemorating the seventh year of Mr.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration, Olumide outlined the agency's achievements in managing informal spaces. The project aims to enhance the sustainable physical planning environment, protect infrastructure, and manage public spaces effectively.

The Lagos State Informal Space Management Agency (LASISMA) will oversee the mapping and development of these areas, ensuring proper design and utilization. The initiative also involves collaboration with various government ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Commerce, to promote orderly and sustainable urban development.

Olumide emphasized the importance of real-time data collection and the need for innovative infrastructure to support the state's growth.
