Moyo Ogunlew, the Executive Chairman of Kosof Local Government Area, expressed alarm over the unsanitary conditions at Onabanjo Street Market in Oworoshoki, Lagos, where a food shop and a hair salon are located inside a toilet facility. This discovery was made during an unannounced inspection of the market, which coincided with a supervisory visit to an ongoing road construction project in the area. Ogunlew shared a video of the visit on social media, showcasing the unsanitary setup and the presence of unfinished concrete walls and exposed plumbing. He engaged with traders at the market, emphasizing the public health risks posed by such arrangements. An elder identified as Baba Adini, who operates in the market, noted that people are selling food and providing hair services next to a toilet, raising serious hygiene concerns. Ogunlew questioned the rationale behind allowing such establishments in a local market, underscoring the need for improved sanitary practices.
