NSCDC Arrests Two Women for Illegal Juice Factory in Lagos

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos state command, announced the arrest of two women, aged 48 and 50, in connection with an illegal factory in Badagry, Lagos state, where adulterated fruit juice branded as “Barkas Juice” was being produced. The arrests followed five days of surveillance by operatives from the Badagry area command, in collaboration with a Nigerian Army formation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the juice contained high levels of sugar, water, colorants, dyes, and additives, with no real fruit used in its production. The NSCDC reported that the juice was manufactured in a highly unhygienic environment and was distributed to markets in Lagos, Benin City, Edo state, and other parts of the country.
