NSCDC Busts Fake Juice Factory in Lagos, Two Arrested

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) uncovered a factory in Lagos producing fake juice, leading to the arrest of two suspects aged 48 and 50. The operation, conducted by NSCDC operatives from the Badagry Command in collaboration with a Nigerian Army formation, took place between September 19 and September 20, 2026.

The suspects were caught after five days of surveillance, during which some youths attempted to obstruct the security personnel. NSCDC Lagos State Commandant Adedotun Keshinro stated that the production process involved synthetic ingredients and no real fruit, with the juice containing high levels of sugar and additives produced under unhygienic conditions.

The products were allegedly distributed to markets in Lagos and Benin City, carrying a fake NAFDAC registration number, “01-2166L.” Items recovered included a truck, cartons of juice, production machinery, and chemicals. The factory was ordered closed, and the suspects will face prosecution, with further investigations planned in collaboration with NAFDAC.
