NSCDC Launches Telecom Safety Campaign in Kano State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, initiated a public awareness campaign aimed at educating residents on the safe use and protection of telecommunications infrastructure during the rainy season. The campaign, announced by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, was led by State Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, who emphasized the importance of telecommunications infrastructure as a critical national asset.

He warned against tampering with telecommunications masts and other facilities, labeling such actions as economic sabotage that threatens public safety. Agalama highlighted the risks posed by heavy rainfall and storms, advising residents to avoid seeking shelter under telecommunications masts and to report any damage or suspicious activities.

The campaign will involve engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders, and various stakeholders to raise awareness. Agalama reiterated the NSCDC's commitment to protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, stating that vandalism would lead to arrest and prosecution.

The campaign will be coordinated by Deputy Commandant of Corps Victor Bala Muhammed.
