Lagos Police Arrest Five Suspected Telecom Vandals

The Lagos State Police Command arrested five individuals suspected of telecommunication vandalism in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos. The suspects, identified as Mohammed Shaibu (26), Musa Zakari (29), Abdullahi Bala (22), Salisu Musa (18), and Yahuza Bala (20), were apprehended while transporting a truckload of iron poles intended for the construction of telecommunication masts.

The operation was led by Superintendent of Police Abimbola Adebisi and was part of intensified efforts to address the theft of critical infrastructure in Lagos. The suspects are currently in police custody, and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba is conducting an investigation into the matter.

The police are also pursuing additional suspects who fled the scene. Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai emphasized the Command's commitment to protecting infrastructure and urged residents to report suspicious activities.

The operation was supported by the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, highlighting the collaboration between the two security agencies.
