Sanwo-Olu Launches Major Food Hub in Agege, Lagos

On Thursday, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commissioned a new food hub in the Agege area, which is capable of accommodating more than 1,500 food trucks daily and managing over 1.5 million metric tonnes of food annually. This facility is the third food hub commissioned in Lagos and aims to become the largest food logistics hub in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Sanwo-Olu stated that the hub is strategically located to serve Agege and its neighboring communities, enhancing the food distribution network across Lagos. He emphasized that the food hub reflects his administration's commitment to modern food infrastructure, making it accessible to the communities where Lagosians engage in food transactions.

To support these hubs, the Lagos State Government launched the Produce for Lagos Programme in July 2025, along with a ₦500 billion Offtake Guarantee Fund, which shifts agricultural production from a supply-driven to a demand-driven model, ensuring farmers produce based on guaranteed market demand.
