Kwara, Ekiti Communities Clash Over Land Dispute

The Obbo-Ayegunle community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State and the Eda Oniyo community in Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State are engaged in a land dispute, blaming each other for a recent attack. The Obbo-Ayegunle community, represented by Ade Ogun of the Obbo Descendants Forum, accused Eda Oniyo of invading their farmlands on August 19, 2026, and threatening their farmers.

Ogun appealed to the Ekiti State Government to intervene and stop Eda Oniyo's aggression. Conversely, Dr Rufus Ajayi, the National President of Eda Oniyo Progressives, claimed that Obbo-Ayegunle attacked their community with a group of 35 armed individuals.

Ajayi insisted that the land in question rightfully belongs to Eda Oniyo and called for government assistance to remove Obbo-Ayegunle from their territory. Both communities are urging the Ekiti State Government to mediate in the ongoing conflict.
