LASU Students Face Academic Uncertainty Due to Curriculum Change

Students from the Department of English at Lagos State University (LASU) are experiencing confusion and uncertainty regarding their academic records following a curriculum change. The transition from the Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS) to the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) has led to missing results, conflicting course codes, and erroneous grades.

This issue has persisted for several months, affecting students' ability to determine outstanding courses and raising concerns about their cumulative grade point averages (CGPAs) and graduation. Affected students noted that the curriculum changes involved not just new course codes but also the introduction of new courses and substantial alterations to existing ones.

This confusion was particularly evident in the case of ENG 104, Introduction to Linguistics, where nearly all 360 students who registered received an F, despite having performed well in their examinations. The lack of clear communication regarding the changes has left students uncertain about their course registrations and academic standing.
