LASWA and NSIB Partner to Enhance Waterway Safety

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has announced a partnership with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) to improve safety standards on Lagos waterways. This collaboration was formalized during a meeting at LASWA headquarters, where both organizations discussed enhancing safety oversight and promoting information sharing.

Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Blue Economy, welcomed the NSIB delegation and emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in advancing government commitments to safe and efficient water transport. Captain Alex Badeh, the Director General of NSIB, led the delegation and highlighted the bureau's mandate to promote transport safety and conduct independent investigations.

The discussions focused on potential partnership areas, including safety data exchange, joint safety awareness initiatives, training programs, incident reporting mechanisms, and technical support for accident investigations. Both organizations expressed commitment to fostering a strong working relationship to contribute to safer waterway operations and support the growth of water transport in Lagos State.
