Court Questions EFCC's Pursuit of Colleen Yesufu's Claims

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sought to revoke Rebecca Omokamo Godwin-Isaac's bail and detain her until 26 October 2026 after she had already spent 23 days confined in her residence and two days in EFCC custody. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik rejected this request, questioning whether the prosecution had become personal and hinting at a possible witch-hunt.

The court emphasized that its earlier order was solely to ensure Rebecca's attendance at trial, not to extend her detention. The case centers around Colleen Mero Yesufu's claims to plots 1861 and 1862, which were connected to May Estate Agency and Famfam Nigeria Limited, companies in which she had no corporate interest.

The defense argued that Colleen was neither a director nor a shareholder of these companies, raising doubts about her claims. Additionally, a witness testified that Shaka Braimah collected title documents for the disputed plots, which were allegedly handed to Colleen, despite her lack of directorship or shareholding in the related companies.
