Lawyer Demands Prosecution of Senator Fadahunsi Over Threats

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has criticized the release of Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents the Osun East Senatorial District, after being questioned by the Osun State Police Command regarding comments made in a viral video. In the video, Fadahunsi allegedly threatened members of the Accord Party, which prompted Effiong to urge Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu to prosecute the senator.

Effiong argued that Fadahunsi's remarks could escalate political tensions ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday. Although Fadahunsi claimed he meant to express a desire to defeat the Accord Party at the ballot box rather than physically harm its members, Effiong dismissed this explanation as inadequate.

He described the senator's comments as reckless and irresponsible, warning that they could undermine the electoral process and deter voter participation. Effiong called for Fadahunsi to be arraigned in court to ensure the police's impartiality in political matters.
