Edo State Local Government Nullifies Selection of Ex-Senate Chief Whip as Okumagbe of Wanno Kingdom

Etsako East Local Government in Edo State nullified the selection of former Senate Chief Whip, Francis Alimikhena, as the Okumagbe of Wanno Kingdom. The decision was announced by the council's secretary, Edward Imhanob, on behalf of the council chairman, Sunni Ekpeson.

The council cited the failure of the kingmakers to abide by its directives as the reason for the nullification. The council suspended the process of filling the vacant stool until further notice.

The selection process was allegedly conducted contrary to the council's directives, leading to the suspension. The council emphasized the importance of adhering to due process and the rule of law.

The former Okumagbe of Wanno Kingdom, Dr. Georg Egabor, was dethroned by the Edo State governor on April 30, 2025.

The council urged the public to await the outcome of pending legal proceedings before taking any actions regarding the vacant stool.
