Edo APC Faces Crisis Over Alleged Candidate Imposition

On March 16, 2026, members of the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) staged a peaceful protest in Ovia North East Local Government Area against the alleged imposition of Mr. Christoph Enamato as the party's chairmanship candidate.

Protesters, led by youth spokesperson Hon. Luggard Ayenoma, claimed that Enamato is not a member of the APC and should not be given a vital position within the local government.

They further alleged that his candidacy undermines party principles and weakens local representation. The protesters called for the intervention of Edo State Governor Okpebholo and demanded a halt to the nomination process until it becomes transparent.

Peter Uwadai, the APC's public secretary in Edo State, described the allegations as speculative, noting that the party has yet to conduct primary elections. The local government elections are scheduled for July 2026.
