Maduka Okoye Injured, Misses Nigeria vs Jordan Friendly

Maduka Okoye, the Super Eagles goalkeeper, has sustained a thigh injury and will not participate in the friendly match against Jordan scheduled for today in Antalya, Turkey. The injury was confirmed by the Super Eagles media officer, Franci Uzoho, on Monday afternoon.

Okoye's absence comes as the team prepares for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. In his place, coach Eric Chell has indicated that Franci Uzoho will reclaim the number one jersey.

The Super Eagles are also missing defenders Semi Ajayi and Bruno Onyemaechi due to personal reasons. Despite these absences, Coach Chell expressed confidence in the remaining 21 players, emphasizing their readiness to face the Jordanian team, which has shown improvement despite its low FIFA ranking of 64th.

The Super Eagles have remained unbeaten in their last five matches, including a penalty shootout victory against Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations third-place match.
