Makinde and Obi Cite Poor Leadership as Nigeria's Core Issue

On Wednesday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), addressed Nigeria's challenges at the 50th/15th Biennial Conference of the Methodist Church Nigeria in Ibadan. They asserted that poor leadership is the primary issue facing the nation, despite its abundant human and natural resources.

Governor Makinde praised the Methodist Church for its long-standing contributions to education, healthcare, and moral development, stating that the church has played a significant role in shaping national values. He emphasized that leadership should focus on service rather than personal ambition and announced his intention to run for the presidency of Nigeria, urging support for his vision of responsible leadership.

Peter Obi echoed these sentiments, arguing that Nigeria's developmental setbacks stem from leadership failures rather than a lack of resources, citing examples of food production in other countries to illustrate his point.
