Man Arrested for Beating Wife to Death in Nasarawa

Abubakar Abdullahi, a resident of Lafia, Nasarawa, was arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his wife to death on Sunday, July 12, 2026. According to Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson for the police command, the incident was reported at the Agyaragu police division around 12:30 PM.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from an argument over the preparation of food. Following the physical assault, the victim was taken to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lafia, where medical examination confirmed her death.

Abdullahi allegedly confessed to the crime during police investigations and expressed remorse for his actions. The Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, Shetima Jauro, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for a thorough and discreet investigation.

Jauro condemned the act of domestic violence and urged couples to resolve disputes through dialogue rather than violence, emphasizing that no misunderstanding is worth the loss of human life. The suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
