Court Reinstates ADC, Mark Criticizes Federal Government

David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), condemned the Federal Government following the Court of Appeal's decision to reverse the ADC's deregistration. The ruling, delivered by a three-member panel led by Justice B.

Moham, criticized Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja for disregarding a May 22 order that restrained him from delivering judgment on the ADC's status. The panel described Lifu's actions as a severe form of judicial misconduct and emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the judiciary.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had previously stated that the ADC, along with other parties, failed to meet the constitutional threshold required for registration. The Court of Appeal's ruling reinstated the ADC, allowing it to remain on the ballot for future elections.

Mark expressed hope that this decision would restore credibility to the judiciary.
