Marwa Urges Traditional Rulers to Vet Land Buyers

Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd.), the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), called on traditional rulers and community leaders to thoroughly vet individuals seeking to purchase farmlands. This appeal was made during the 10th Akinale Day celebration and the first coronation anniversary of the Towulade of Owu Akinale, Oba Oluseyi Adediran.

Marwa warned that criminal syndicates are increasingly using remote locations to set up illegal drug manufacturing facilities, particularly following the discovery of clandestine methamphetamine laboratories linked to a Nigerian-Mexican drug cartel in Ogun and Oyo states. He stressed the importance of community vigilance, urging leaders to monitor unfamiliar individuals in their areas and exercise caution in approving farmland sales.

Marwa also called for collaboration between the NDLEA and traditional institutions to combat substance abuse and drug trafficking, highlighting the need for grassroots advocacy against drug-related issues.
