Nigerian Army Declares MASSOB Memorial Services Illegal

The Nigerian Army, through its Deputy Director of Public Relations for the 82 Division, Olabisi Olalekan, issued a statement declaring the planned civil war memorial church services by the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) illegal. The Army warned that such gatherings, intended to honor victims of the civil war, are provocations that disregard national laws and could create chaos.

The statement, released on a Friday, advised the public, including churchgoers and businesses, to remain safe and assured them that the Army, in collaboration with security agencies, is committed to safeguarding lives and property in the Southeast. The Army emphasized that any individual or group attempting to disrupt public peace or religious activities would face the full weight of the law.
