MDCAN, ARD Condemn EFCC Raid on Uyo Teaching Hospital

The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) and the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) condemned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its raid on the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital on Tuesday. The operation involved the detention of hospital management staff and was described as brutal and unrestrained, with allegations of the use of live ammunition.

In response, the associations issued a joint communiqué, calling for immediate action from Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno regarding the invasion. They demanded the unconditional release of detained hospital members and disciplinary measures against the EFCC personnel involved.

The communiqué, signed by Dr. Mfon Inoh (MDCAN Chairman), Dr.

Kalu Nnenna (MDCAN Secretary), Dr. Ekomobong Udoh (ARD President), and Dr.

Kenneth Ikott (ARD Secretary), emphasized the need for psychological treatment for the victims and an apology from the EFCC. The associations declared an indefinite strike until their demands are met.
