Minister Tegbe Enhances Power Supply with New Substations

On Thursday, Engr. Joseph Olasukanmi Tegbe, the Minister of Power, commissioned five transmission substation projects in Kano and Katsina States and inspected an ongoing GIS substation in Katsina. The projects added a total of 240MW at 330kV and 376MW at 132kV to Nigeria's transmission network, enhancing bulk power supply in the North Eastern region.
In Katsina, Tegbe commissioned two 60MVA power transformers at the Kankia Transmission Substation, increasing its capacity by 150 percent. He also performed a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 120MVA transmission substation at Mashi, which will provide an additional 120MVA, equivalent to 96MW.
Tegbe emphasized that these projects are part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at revitalizing the power sector. The projects were funded by the World Bank and executed by the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Power and TCN.
Engr. Sule Abdulaziz, MDCEO of TCN, highlighted the modernization of the control room and the expansion of the 33kV busbar.
