Bauchi Governor Urges Army to Combat Illegal Mining

Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has called on security agencies to take strong action against illegal mining activities in the state, asserting that no individual should be exempt from prosecution, including family members. This directive was issued during a courtesy visit from Major General W.M.

Dangana, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, at the Government House in Bauchi. Governor Mohammed identified illegal mining as a significant contributor to insecurity in Bauchi, particularly in the Alkaleri Local Government Area.

He urged the Nigerian Army to enhance intelligence gathering and coordinated operations to dismantle the criminal networks involved in these activities. The governor also committed to providing ongoing support to security agencies in terms of logistics and intelligence.

Major General Dangana praised the state government for its assistance to the Nigerian Army and reiterated the Army's dedication to improving security operations in Bauchi State and the North-East region.
