Police Arrest 42 Miners Linked to Monarch's Abduction

In Kwara, police have arrested 42 illegal miners as part of an ongoing investigation into the abduction of Oba Aweda, who was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday evening by ten heavily armed men. Adekimi Ojo, the police commissioner, disclosed that the miners had visited the palace earlier that day.

The assailants forcefully entered the palace, dragged the monarch from his room, and demanded money, which was allegedly given to them by the miners. The police responded swiftly to the incident, deploying drone resources to track the suspects.

Although the 42 miners have been arrested, it has not yet been established whether they were directly involved in the abduction. The investigation continues, with the suspects currently in custody at the state police headquarters in Ilorin.

Abdulrashe Femi Yusuf, the chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, described the incident as unfortunate and expressed deep concern, urging residents to support ongoing security efforts.
