Thirteen Killed in Benue Attacks, Urgent Security Needed

In recent attacks in Benue State, 13 individuals, including a mobile police officer, were killed. The incidents took place in Edikwu Ankpa on Sunday night and Ikobi on Friday, with local reports confirming that nine people were killed in Edikwu Ankpa and one in Ikobi.

Adam Ochega, the chairman of Apa Local Government Area, reported that the attacks have left residents in grief and trauma, urging the federal and state governments to deploy security personnel and adopt proactive measures to address the crisis. He emphasized the need for compensation and support for the victims' families.

Maxwel Ogiri, the chairman of Otukpo LGA, confirmed the loss of the mobile police officer during security operations in the area. Despite the attacks, security forces managed to repel further threats, and the area has been fortified with police and military presence.

DSP Udem Edet from the police public relations office has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incidents.
