Morocco Supports Congo Basin Blue Fund for Climate Action

Morocco is actively mobilizing support for the Congo Basin Blue Fund, with a donor roundtable scheduled for May 26 in Brazzaville. The Moroccan delegation is led by Leila Benali, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, and includes Rachid Tahiri, Director of Climate and Biodiversity, and Isma L.

The meeting in Nairobi focused on finalizing project priorities and establishing a structured program portfolio aligned with national strategies. The Moroccan government is committed to participating in the Blue Fund's executive committee and aims to contribute to climate mitigation targets of 53 percent by 2035 through a portfolio of 90 climate projects.

This initiative marks the tenth anniversary of the Congo Basin Climate Commission's creation and follows the Marrakech Declaration initiated by King Mohammed VI during COP22 in 2016.
