Moshood Abiola National Stadium Closes Due to Security Threat

The management of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja announced its immediate closure due to a credible security threat, as per an official notice issued on Monday. This decision was based on information from the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters regarding a potential risk affecting the stadium.

All entrances were scheduled to close from the night of August 3, 2026, with no access permitted until further notice from the Police. The management emphasized that this precautionary measure aims to protect lives and property while a security assessment is conducted.

Individuals within the stadium were instructed to leave in an orderly manner, and security personnel were deployed to enforce the closure. The management appealed for calm and cooperation from athletes, sports enthusiasts, and the public, urging them to avoid loitering around the stadium.
