NAFDAC Issues Alert on Falsified Betaclox Antibiotic in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert (No. 37 of 2025) regarding the discovery of falsified Betaclox antibiotics in Nigeria. The product, initially procured in Gamboru Market, Maiduguri, was found to contain fraudulent registration details and belong to a different medicine, Mebendazole 500mg, manufactured by Chi Ltd.

NAFDAC highlighted concerns over the misappropriation of registration numbers and the possibility of unauthorized use of the Betaclox name. Health professionals and the public are urged to report any suspicious sale of substandard or falsified medicines to NAFDAC.
