NAFDAC Recalls Substandard Antibiotics Over Safety Concerns

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a recall notice for two batches of locally manufactured antibiotics, Astamocil and Astamentin, produced by SAM AC Ltd in Nigeria. The recall was prompted by laboratory tests revealing low active pharmaceutical ingredient content, compromising the safety and efficacy of the medicines commonly used to treat bacterial infections.

NAFDAC advises consumers, healthcare providers, and distributors to exercise caution and report any suspicions of substandard medicines. The agency is actively working to remove the affected batches from circulation to safeguard public health.
