NAFDAC to Shut Down Unregistered Water Firms in Kano

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), under the leadership of Prof. Moji Adeyeye, has announced a crackdown on unregistered table water companies in Kano State that operate under unsanitary conditions. This declaration was made during the national delegation convention of the Association of Table Water Producers in Nigeria (ATWAP) held in Kano.

Prof. Adeyeye stated that the agency would not hesitate to take action against non-compliant producers, with immediate shutdowns for unregistered companies discovered to be operating in unhygienic conditions. Tshiamo T.

Tanimowo, the agency's coordinator in Kano State, emphasized the importance of table water as a vital product, highlighting the agency's commitment to ensuring good sanitation and hygiene in production. Mr. Clementina Chinw Ativi, the outgoing president of ATWAP, acknowledged the challenges faced by the association, including regulatory pressures and economic uncertainties, while expressing satisfaction with ATWAP's certification as a member of the International Water Association (IWA) in 2023.
