NANS-diaspora Advocates for Stronger Ties with High Commission

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS-diaspora), represented by Comrade Juwon Fayomi, has called for enhanced collaboration between the Nigerian High Commissioner and Nigerian communities in Australia. This initiative aims to improve representation and participation of Nigerians abroad, particularly during significant national events such as Independence Day celebrations.

Fayomi highlighted the importance of closer engagement with the High Commission to foster unity among Nigerians living outside the country. The association is organizing its annual international summit in Australia and has reached out to the High Commission for support and collaboration.

Fayomi also noted the critical role of diplomatic missions in promoting national identity and cohesion among citizens abroad. Furthermore, he mentioned the launch of the African Centre for Engagement at RMIT University scheduled for September 2025, which aims to strengthen Nigeria's visibility and collaborative opportunities.

NANS-diaspora urges the federal government to prioritize effective diplomatic engagement to enhance interactions between Nigerian missions and diaspora communities.
