NANS Urges Tinubu to Retain Gbajabiamila Amid Allegations

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to refrain from dismissing Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila based on unproven allegations. NANS President Akintey Babatunde Afeez issued a statement in Abuja, asserting that Gbajabiamila's potential dismissal would contradict principles of due process.

The association stressed that no public official should be punished based on unsubstantiated claims. They highlighted the need for a credible legal process, emphasizing that every Nigerian is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

NANS also warned against attempts to convict Gbajabiamila in the court of public opinion and urged the president to protect dedicated public servants from unfounded accusations. The statement referenced allegations made by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is not recognized as a legitimate representative of the federal government.

NANS reaffirmed its support for Gbajabiamila, citing his exemplary leadership and contributions to resolving the 2022 Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.
