Nigerian Navy and EPO Enhance Coastal Protection Partnership

The Nigerian Navy has committed to strengthening its partnership with the Ecological Project Office (EPO) and other relevant agencies to address environmental and maritime challenges affecting Nigeria’s coastal regions. Rear Admiral AA Mustapha, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Western Naval Command, made this commitment during a recent meeting with Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the EPO, and Rear Admiral Olumide Olajide Fadahunsi, the Hydrographer of the Federation, at the Command Headquarters.

The meeting, organized by the National Hydrographic Agency, EPO, and the Centre for Renewable Energy and Action Against Climate Change, aimed to enhance inter-agency cooperation for sustainable coastal zone management and climate change mitigation. Ndayako highlighted the need for balancing human activities with environmental sustainability and called for the restoration of degraded ecosystems.

Mustapha, representing Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, the Chief of the Naval Staff, welcomed the delegation and reiterated the Navy's readiness to collaborate on environmental protection and sustainable maritime management.
