Nigerian Navy Restores Power to Akwa Ibom Community

The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a rural electrification project in Ikot-Edeghe community, Mpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, restoring electricity to the area after nearly 10 years of blackout. This project, part of the Navy’s Civil-Military Cooperation intervention programmes, was approved by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, and funded under the Chief of the Naval Staff’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Project Scheme.

The project was facilitated by Rear Admiral Etop Ebe. During the inauguration on Tuesday, Rear Admiral Chijioke Onyemaobi, representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, stated that the initiative demonstrates the Navy’s commitment to civil-military relations and community welfare.

He emphasized that the project aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at improving Nigerians' quality of life through critical infrastructure. Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, represented by Commissioner for Power Iniobong Robson, praised the Navy for enhancing rural community life, noting the project’s alignment with the state’s ARISE Agenda focused on rural development.
