Nigerian Navy Launches Transformer and Town Hall in Imo

On [date not specified], the Nigerian Navy, represented by Vice Admiral Idi Abba, launched a 5,000 KVA transformer and a town hall in Umuokoro, Lowa Uboma, Ihitt Uboma Local Government Area, Imo State. This initiative is part of the Navy's military-civil cooperation strategy to enhance community development.

Rear Admiral Michael Igw, Director of Weapon Electrical Engineering at Naval Headquarters, noted that the project directly addresses critical hardships faced by the community, which had been without electricity for three and a half years due to a faulty transformer. The newly installed transformer successfully restored power to the rural population within two months.

The town hall, which can accommodate 80 people, features modern restroom facilities and replaces a dilapidated structure built in 1970. Governor Hope Uzodimma commended the Nigerian Navy's leadership and the support from President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure in improving living standards.

The ceremony attracted various state officials, including the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chike Olemgb.
