NCoS Denies Robbery Claims Against Abba Kyari, Tunde Ayeni

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) dismissed claims that officials robbed inmates Abba Kyari and Tunde Ayeni during a routine security search at the Kuje custodial center in Abuja. The service described the allegations as false and misleading, stating that the search was conducted professionally and in line with established procedures.

NCoS issued a statement through Chief Superintendent Jane Osuji, emphasizing that the operation aimed to maintain order and discipline within the facility and to recover prohibited items. The service noted that no evidence supported the claims of theft, which included reports of valuables worth 120 million naira allegedly taken from the inmates.

Furthermore, the NCoS clarified that inmates are not permitted to keep unauthorized items or large sums of money in custody. They urged the public and media to verify information through official channels to avoid spreading unverified claims that could undermine public confidence in the institution.
