NDC's Seriake Dickson Urges Support Groups to Collaborate

Senator Seriake Dickson, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), warned political support groups affiliated with the party against operating as parallel structures or competing for control. Speaking during the reception of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, into the NDC, Dickson stated that while support groups play a crucial role in mobilizing voters and promoting candidates, they should not assume the functions of a political party.

He clarified that support groups do not sponsor candidates and should work alongside the party’s campaign structures. Dickson acknowledged the importance of these groups and mentioned that the NDC has provisions for their coordination.

He urged them to focus on grassroots mobilization and support for the party's candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections. Dickson also noted that the existence of multiple support groups could complement the party's structures rather than compete with them, encouraging them to concentrate on galvanizing support for NDC candidates.
