Ajia Proposes Light Rail System for Kwara State

Dr. Abdulmumin Ajia, the governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), unveiled a plan for a light rail transportation system in Kwara State aimed at alleviating transportation challenges faced by operators. Speaking to journalists upon his arrival in Ilorin on Friday, Ajia emphasized that effective leadership involves addressing the concerns of the populace with practical solutions that enhance their socioeconomic conditions.

He proposed that the light rail system would facilitate the transition of commercial motorcycle (Okada) operators to more dignified employment, reducing their exposure to harsh weather conditions. Ajia urged voters to evaluate the ideas of all leading candidates, asserting that the focus should be on effective governance rather than political affiliations.

He articulated his vision for Kwara under the "Forward Kwara Agenda (Itesiwaju Kwara)," which includes initiatives to boost local industries, such as garri production and potato processing, ultimately aiming to elevate residents from subsistence to millionaire status through increased productivity and job creation.
