NDC Candidate Critiques Kwara's Business Sealing Actions

Dr. Abdulmumin Ajia, the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kwara State, has condemned the state government's actions in sealing business premises due to alleged disputes over unpaid taxes, levies, and regulatory charges imposed by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS). In his statement, Ajia argued that sealing businesses should be a last resort, as it disrupts their ability to generate income and negatively affects employees and families.

He emphasized the need for transparency in tax assessments and called for the KW-IRS to disclose the legal basis for the charges and the processes followed before sealing any business. Ajia also expressed concern that many affected businesses might belong to non-indigenous residents who support his candidacy.

He warned against using state institutions to intimidate any ethnic community or political opponents and stated that if these actions persist, he would seek legal remedies alongside affected businesses and civil society.
