NDLEA Arrests Lagos Merchant in Drug Trafficking Network

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 46-year-old Omolad Abigail Jolayemi, a Lagos fabrics merchant, for her alleged involvement in a drug distribution network operating between Nigeria and Ghana. The arrest occurred during a raid conducted by the agency's special operations unit on Carter Street, Yaba, as disclosed in a statement by spokesperson Femi Babafemi on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

During the operation, authorities recovered 135 blocks of cannabis weighing 76.30 kilograms. The agency reported multiple arrests and seizures across the country, including the interception of cocaine concealed in a shipment of dry fish, leading to the arrest of 36-year-old Akputa Dickson Ejik, with a total of 237 wraps of cocaine weighing 5.80 kilograms recovered.

In Taraba State, a truck transporting 100 blocks of compressed cannabis concealed in animal feed was intercepted, resulting in the arrest of suspects Osama Mamuda and Auwal Umar. The NDLEA continues to conduct significant drug interceptions at Nigeria's major international airports.
