NEDC Advances Electric Mobility Initiative in Taraba State

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) is advancing the promotion of electric vehicles in Taraba State as part of its strategy to enhance transportation, create jobs, and stimulate sustainable economic growth. This initiative was highlighted during a stakeholders’ sensitisation workshop themed “Powering the North-East: Embracing Electric Mobility for a Cleaner, Smarter and Prosperous Future.” Mohammed Alkali, the managing director and chief executive officer of NEDC, represented by state coordinator Adamu Lawal, emphasized that electric mobility could address transportation challenges, expand economic opportunities, and reduce environmental pollution.
The deployment of electric buses and tricycles is expected to promote economic efficiency and create jobs while supporting carbon emission reduction efforts. The initiative aligns with the NEDC’s North-East Stabilisation and Development Master Plan.
Bunu Umar Abacha, managing director and CEO of Atahir Enterprises Nigeria Limited, noted the workshop aimed to develop a sustainable operational framework for electric mobility, supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on economic growth and job creation.
