NELFUND Condemns Unethical Practices in Tertiary Education

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) issued a statement on Monday in Abuja, condemning reports of unethical practices by tertiary institutions. Mr.

Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, expressed concern over allegations that some institutions were arbitrarily increasing tuition fees and refusing to refund students whose tuition fees had already been paid. NELFUND was established under the administration of President Bola Tinubu to remove financial barriers to higher education without creating additional burdens for students.

The organization has engaged with relevant institutions to ensure that eligible students receive refunds for tuition fees already paid through loans. NELFUND aims to ensure that the tuition fees charged by institutions remain fair and transparent, in line with the objectives of the loan scheme.

Oluwatuyi reaffirmed NELFUND's commitment to protecting students' interests and urged participating institutions to uphold the initiative's objectives to ensure that students fully benefit from the intervention.
