New Abia CP Wilfred Afolabi Outlines Security Agenda

On Monday, Wilfred Afolabi officially took office as the 35th Commissioner of Police in Abia State, succeeding Danladi Isa, who has been promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police. Afolabi's agenda aligns with the directives of Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, emphasizing the strengthening of existing security structures and enhancing discipline within the police force.

His plans include re-engineering intelligence structures, improving police-public trust, capacity building, and developing new crime prevention strategies ahead of upcoming elections. Afolabi stressed the importance of ethical conduct and professionalism, stating that officers who violate standards after training would face disciplinary actions.

He also mentioned that mentoring would be part of the approach to address misconduct, indicating that not all offenses would lead to dismissal. Afolabi's commitment to enhancing the police force's operational readiness and ethical standards marks a significant step in his leadership role.
