NEYGA Urges Atiku, Obi to Stop Politicizing Insecurity

The Nigerian Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA) condemned presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) for politicizing the issue of insecurity in Nigeria. This statement followed a recent attack by gunmen on schools in Oyo and Borno States, which resulted in the abduction of students.

NEYGA accused both candidates of using the plight of schoolchildren as a political tool, criticizing their comments that mocked the government's ability to ensure safety. The group emphasized that the primary responsibility for security lies with the government and called for unity among politicians to support governmental efforts in combating insecurity.

NEYGA's spokesperson, Alhaji Ibrahim Dan Musa, expressed disappointment in the candidates for resorting to political maneuvers instead of addressing the pressing security challenges. The group referenced historical instances of political solidarity during crises, contrasting them with the current political climate in Nigeria.
