NFF Appoints Ikpeme as Interim General Secretary

The National Sports Commission has endorsed Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, the former Deputy General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), as the interim General Secretary following the resignations of President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, and members of the Executive Committee. This decision is part of significant interim measures announced by the NFF as the Federal Government seeks to reform the administration of Nigerian football.

The NFF stated that the electoral process scheduled for 27 September has been suspended, with plans for a new electoral process to commence after comprehensive reforms are completed in consultation with FIFA and CAF. Additionally, Dr Ademola Olajire, the Director of Media and Communications, has been appointed as interim Deputy General Secretary.

The NFF has also directed the leadership of Nigeria's four major domestic leagues to transfer administrative responsibilities to their Chief Operating Officers to ensure continuity during the reform process.
