CeFTPI Report: Kaduna Leads in Transparency, Niger Last
Niger State, Cross River, and 31 other states have been ranked low in transparency and integrity in a report by the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CeFTPI). The report, unveiled on September 28, 2026, assessed state governments based on public financial information disclosure, procurement practices, human resources and inclusion, anti-corruption measures, and citizens' engagement.
Kaduna State achieved the highest score at 54.68%, followed by Osun State at 50.54% and Kwara State at 48.19%. Rivers State ranked fourth with 37.97%, while Enugu and Kebbi states shared fifth place with 36.63% each.
The report revealed a significant gap in scores, with only three states scoring above 45% and 15 states below 25%. Niger State ranked last with a score of 14.86%.
